Saturday’s A Free Day For Anglers
Thousands of rainbow trout have been stocked in Idaho lakes and ponds to give everyone a chance to catch a fish Saturday during Free Fishing Day.
No fishing license is required during the annual event. Sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Free Fishing Day is designed to provide a chance to experience fishing to those who otherwise might not try it.
The agency is conducting clinics across the state to teach angling skills, fish identification, outdoor ethics and more. A limited amount of equipment will be available for use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own tackle.
Clinics in North Idaho are scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. at Ponderosa Springs Golf Course in Coeur d’Alene, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Anderson Ranch Pond five miles south of St. Maries on state Highway 3, and from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mullan Fish Hatchery, Round Lake State Park, Bonners Ferry Lions Club Pond and the Clark Fork Hatchery.
Limits and other fishing regulations still apply.
