Broadway Shows Packing Them In
Broadway’s still the hottest ticket in town, with a million more people seeing a show in the 1996-97 season than in the previous year.
Nearly 10.6 million people bought Broadway tickets in the 12-month period ending June 1, jumping from 9.4 million the previous year, the League of American Theaters and Producers announced Thursday.
Grosses also climbed, rising to $499 million from $436 million during the 1995-96 season.
