Panel Weighs Hearings On Wwp Fee Proposal
The Idaho Public Utilities Commission wants to know whether it should hold public hearings to discuss a new Washington Water Power proposal.
WWP wants to charge monthly minimums and reconnect charges to customers who disconnect and reconnect within a 12-month period.
The commission originally had planned to decide on WWP’s application without a public hearing, but now will accept comment on whether to hold the hearing until June 27.
According to WWP, the proposed tariff revision would eliminate the financial incentive for customers to discontinue and re-establish service within a yearlong period. Under the current system, some people do this to avoid paying monthly minimum charges.
Under the new plan, those customers would be charged an amount equal to what the minimum would have been if the service had not been interrupted, as well as being forced to pay a $16 or $32 hookup fee.
To comment on whether to hold the hearings, call David Scott with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission at (208) 334-0339.
