Colbert Positioned To End Winless Streak
Jim Colbert, trying to end the longest winless streak of his senior career, shot a 1-under-par 70 on Saturday to maintain a one-stroke lead after the third round of the du Maurier Champions.
Colbert, an 18-time senior winner and the tour’s money leader the last two seasons, struggled with St. George’s firm greens and difficult pin placements after opening with consecutive 65s.
Australia’s Graham Marsh, a three-time tour winner, bogeyed the final hole for a 70, leaving him a stroke back along with Jack Kiefer.
Brandie Burton, winless since a three-victory season in 1993, shot a 4-under-par 68 to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the Edina Realty Classic in Maple Grove, Minn.
Michelle McGann, who had a share of the first-round lead with Burton and Pat Hurst, shot a 70 to join Jane Geddes (67), Catriona Matthew (68) and Mayumi Hirase (68) at 137.
Clarkston’s Robin Walton is six shots back, while Rathdrum’s Tracy Hanson is eight strokes off the pace.
