U.S. Won’t Try For 2008

The U.S. Olympic Committee’s board of directors voted against pursuing a bid for the 2008 Summer Olympics, while agreeing to go for the Pan American Games in 2007 and consider a bid for the Olympics in 2012.

Eight cities - Baltimore, Cincinnati, Houston, New Orleans, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington - were U.S. candidates for 2008.
