Dear Heloise: I just had to share an experience with you when I saw a reader’s tip on using rubber bands to secure kitchen cabinet doors from toddlers.

My daughter-in-law used that technique and to this day every time her children see a loose rubber band, they loop it over a cabinet knob!

Dear Heloise: Here is a good household hint for those hard-to-get-a-grip-on small bottles like fingernail polish: Most everyone has a nutcracker, which makes a nice grip to unscrew tops. - Helen Hammons, Houston
