Former Olympians Cathy O’Brien and Joan Benoit-Samuelson finished 1-2 among the female cyclists in their first attempt at the grueling Mount Washington, N.H., road race. Craig Fram of Plaistow, N.H., won the men’s race.

David Reid, 23, of Philadelphia, the only gold medalist for the U.S. Olympic boxing team at Atlanta last summer, knocked out John Long at 1:33 of the second round in Syracuse, N.Y., to remain unbeaten in three professional junior middleweight fights.

Angela Williams of Chino, Calif., matched the second-fastest 100 meters ever by a high school girl, finishing in 11.14 seconds in the U.S. Junior Track and Field Championships in Edwardsville, Ill. Washington football recruit Ja’Warren Hooker of Ellensburg, Wash., won the men’s 100 in 10.28.
