Golie Jansen Named Person Of Honor

The Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs has named Golie Jansen, Ph.D., Person of Honor. The honor is given to an individual who has made significant contributions in the field of sexual violence.

Jansen is a professor at the Eastern Washington University School of Social Work and currently teaches a course on gender and sexual assault. She has served on the Sexual Assault Prevention Advisory Committee for the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy.

Rebecca Deaver of the Columbia School in Hunters, Wash., won first place in the K-2 category of the Drug Free Washington Month poster contest.

Sherry Wilson, the daughter of Darlene Johnson and a graduate of Joel E. Ferris High School, was inducted into Psi Chi, a psychology honor society. She is a student at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Va.

R. Paul Stimers, a junior from Spokane majoring in political science at the University of Washington, has been selected to receive the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation for students preparing for careers in public service.

Stimers, a member of the honors program, will receive $30,000.

Lewis and Clark High School senior Amy Seppa has been selected to receive a $20,000 Toyota Community Scholars college scholarship.

She is an honors student at both Lewis and Clark High School and, through the Running Start Program, at Spokane Community College.
