Microsoft Teams With Reynolds

From Staff And Wire Reports

Microsoft Corp. said it has teamed up with Reynolds & Reynolds Co. to provide more car-buying services on its Internet site, ending its alliance with Auto-by-Tel Corp.

Microsoft’s CarPoint service, available for free on the Internet, provides information about cars such as pricing, reviews and lists of features.

CarPoint now will also encompass Reynolds’s service, which lets consumers specify the new vehicle they want based on make, model, price range, options and more. Consumers can research and choose a car and then are matched with a car dealer in their area.

Microsoft said it chose Reynolds because the company had a broader reach among dealerships and offered more information about the process and cars.

Dayton, Ohio-based Reynolds provides computer systems to auto dealers. About 500 automobile dealers will be available to consumers using the site initially. Microsoft said the number will double by January.
