Dear Heloise: I remember reading about stenciling border trims and decided to do my kitchen using different kinds of fruit.

After putting different colors of paint in separate dishes, I dipped a sponge in paint and, while holding the stencil an inch down from the ceiling, filled in the design. It didn’t take too long to make the border trim on all the walls. I also brought it down around and under the window above my sink.

Now my kitchen has that great up-to-date look and it only cost pennies to do. - Jean Parks, Vashon, Wash. xxxx
