Roosevelt Nearly Full
Boating
Following the lowest spring drawdown since 1981, Lake Roosevelt reached normal summer pool levels last week.
“Summer levels range between 1,280 and 1,290,” said Craig Sprankle, spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation at Grand Coulee Dam.
At least 19 of the lake’s 22 boat launching ramps can be used when levels are above 1,280 feet elevation.
The lake was drawn down to 1,208.5 feet at the end of April in preparation for a near record runoff in the Columbia River.
The Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area has opened more than 18 campgrounds along the 150-mile-long lake. Evening programs are scheduled at Evans, Kettle Falls, Fort Spokane, Porcupine Bay, Keller Ferry and Spring Canyon campgrounds.
Visitors centers at Kettle Falls and Fort Spokane are operating at reduced hours this summer. Hours are 1 p.m.-6 p.m., closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
