The Minnesota Vikings gave middle linebacker Jeff Brady a $5.4 million, three-year contract extension that includes a $1.1 million signing bonus and a $500,000 reporting bonus.

Officials of the National Basketball Association say they’ll be in town Monday to testify against a plan to help build a new football stadium for the Seattle Seahawks.

Their worry is a 10 percent wholesale tax on sports memorabilia and clothing that is part of a funding bill to pay part of the cost of the proposed $402 million stadium.

Mt. Sassafras upset heavily favored Skip Away to win by 2-1/4 lengths in the $500,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap at Hallanday, Fla. Atticus set a world record for 1 mile (1:31.89) on turf to win the Arcadia Handicap at Santa Anita.
