Joan Beckmann Spokane

Service for Joan B. Beckmann, 65, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Beckmann, who was born in Spokane, died Wednesday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing.

She and her husband, Robert, operated the North Wall and Altamont Pharmacies for many years.

She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star.

Her husband, Robert Beckmann, died in 1988.

Mrs. Beckmann is survived by two sons, Robert Beckmann of Colfax, Wash., and Richard Beckmann of Spokane; a daughter, Nancy of Winnipeg, Manitoba; two sisters, Carolyn Robinson of Oakhurst, Calif., and Virginia Bowmer of Plummer, Idaho; and two grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Masonic Temple.

Richard Sharples Jr. Dalton Gardens, Idaho

At his request, no service is planned for Richard Sharples Jr., 77. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sharples, who was born in England, died Friday.

He moved to North Idaho in 1920 and had worked as transportation director at North Idaho College, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ida; three daughters, Juanita Homolka, Karen Arthur and Vickie Johnson, all of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, John Sharples of Bonney Lake, Wash.; a sister, Mary Stevens of Michigan; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
