Postseason Rewarding

Compiled From Wire Services

A total of $24.3 million will be divided among 730 players who participated in the 1996 National Football League postseason, the largest playoff pool ever.

Each full share to the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers is $90,541. Each share to members of the New England Patriots, who lost to the Packers 35-21 in the Super Bowl, is $71,880.

AFC Pro Bowlers earned $20,000 each for playing on the winning team. NFC players get $10,000.

Linebacker Rufus Porter, who started nine games last season for the New Orleans Saints, signed a two-year contract with Tampa Bay.

The Chicago Bears re-signed quarterback Erik Kramer to back up Rick Mirer.

The Washington Redskins extended the contract of general manager Charlie Casserly.

Casserly’s new agreement comes a week after the team gave coach Norv Turner a three-year extension that will keep the coach until 2001.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young, 35, who was scheduled to be married later this month, has put his wedding plans on hold so he and his fiancee, 25-year-old Aimee Baglietto can “get to know each other,” according to his agent, Leigh Steinberg.
