Packers’ Jackson Quits
Green Bay tight end Keith Jackson retired after finally earning a Super Bowl ring. Jackson, 31, spent nine years in the NFL, including two with Green Bay.
The agent for restricted free-agent quarterback Heath Shuler told the Washington Redskins his client has an offer from the New Orleans Saints and is talking with the Green Bay Packers. Any agreement with Shuler, though, is probably contingent on a team making a trade with Washington.
Cornerback Steve Israel has signed with the New England Patriots and could begin the season as a starter. Israel has played for the Rams and 49ers.
The Dallas Cowboys, uncertain if Charles Haley will return, re-signed pass rush specialist Broderick Thomas.
