Soap Star Appearing At Auto Show
If it moves fast and looks cool, you’ll find it at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds this weekend.
Souped-up hot rods, sleek speed boats and vintage motorcycles will be among the competitors at the 34th Annual Auto Boat Speed Show as it rumbles into town Friday.
“Anything that entails speed will be there,” said Judy Filkins of the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds.
But don’t come expecting a race. Instead, about 140 primed and polished cars, boats and motorcycles will strut their stuff as judges rate their big engines, plush interiors and beautiful body work.
For those interested in another kind of body work, soap star Peter Reckell will be on hand to sign autographs and chat with his fans.
Reckell has played “Days of Our Lives” ultrahunk Bo Brady on and off since 1983. For those not tuned into the soap scene, Bo and his on-screen love, Hope, are one of the supercouples of daytime drama.
Reckell, awarded “Hottest Male Star” by Soap Opera Digest, also has appeared on “Knots Landing” and in numerous stage shows.
“We try to get something every year that kind of adds to the scope of the auto show,” said Orville Moe, show promoter and owner of the Spokane Raceway Park. “(Reckell) happens to be the number one attraction for the ladies.”
Reckell joins the likes of Henry Winkler and Mr. T., who have appeared at past shows.
The Auto Boat Speed Show hours are Friday from noon to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Tickets are sold at the door for $9. Senior, military and student tickets cost $8. Children under 6 get in free.
Reckell will be available for autographs and pictures on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m., 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
