West Side Counties Endorse Gas Tax Hike

County executives of King, Pierce and Snohomish counties on Friday endorsed a Senate proposal to boost the state’s gasoline tax by 7 cents a gallon.

Democrats Ron Sims of King County and Bob Drewel of Snohomish County and Republican Doug Sutherland of Pierce County said they’ll lobby legislators from their area to support the new funding package.

Voters in the three counties approved a $3.9 billion mass transit plan last fall.
