Lc Soccer Team Gets Third Straight Shutout

Lake City’s shutout streak reached three matches Saturday after a 5-0 non-league boys soccer win over visiting Kennewick.

The Timberwolves (4-0) led 2-0 after 8 minutes and allowed their defense to again take over.

Scott Blodgett and Dan Clark scored two goals apiece for LC. The visiting Lions had just four shots on goal.

Baseball

Eric Sandberg went 4 for 5 with three RBIs as Ferris beat visiting Lake City 12-3 in a non-leaguer.

Marques Molett of the Saxons (1-2) added two hits, two RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases. Senior Tyson Harlin took the loss for the Timberwolves, who received two hits apiece from Rex Anderson and Ben Orsua.

Bryan Phelps’ bloop RBI single in the sixth sent Lakeland to a 4-3 win in the second game of an IML sweep over Bonners Ferry at Rathdrum.

The Hawks (2-0, 2-0) won the opener 4-0 as Ryan Banks (1-0) struck out eight. Jesse Rinehart drove in two runs and Taylor Skidmore added two triples and one RBI.

The Badgers (0-4, 0-2) led the second game 3-2 after 5-1/2 innings, but Brady White’s single tied the game and led to Phelps’ at-bat. Junior Jeremy Miller (1-0) earned the win in his first career appearance.

Also in the IML, D.J. Eberlin had three RBIs in the opener and Trent Duffey drove in three in the second game to guide visiting St. Maries to a 4-2, 9-5 sweep over Priest River.

Jimmy Nelson (1-0) won the opener, striking out five and allowing one earned run in six-plus innings. Lane Watkins of SM had three hits, including a homer, and two runs in the second game.

Darrell Tomlinson and Tim Gittel had four RBIs apiece as Lake City’s freshmen beat visiting Lakeside 17-9 in the second game to sweep a non-league doubleheader at Coeur d’Alene.

LC won the opener 14-13 as Gittel went 3 for 4, with four RBIs and three runs. Brad Nelson of the Knights (0-2) hit for the cycle in the opener and had six RBIs. Lakeside’s Joseph Lachnit homered in the second game.

Softball

Monica Hall (1-0) struck out 11 in the opener and Tiffany Hall (1-1) fanned 14 in the second game as Lakeland (2-1, 2-0) swept visiting Bonners Ferry 11-1, 9-0 in an Intermountain League doubleheader at Rathdrum.

In the opener, Annie Carhart had a two-run double in the fourth and Jackie Foster followed with an RBI double. Casi Reisenauer had a two-run single in the second game’s second inning, and Carhart added a two-run homer in the fourth.

Lake City’s freshmen drew three walks in the bottom of the fifth to beat visiting Lakeside 8-7 in the second game and split a non-league doubleheader at CdA.

The Knights won the opener 13-6 as SunniJo Mullen went 2 for 2, with two RBIs and two runs. Lakeside’s Harmony Hammons was 5 of 7 with four RBIs for the day.
