Meetings Will Focus On School Buildings
Building, remodeling or closing school buildings will all be discussed next week, when residents of the Kellogg School District attend three School House Meetings.
The 7 p.m. meetings will be held at Kellogg High School on Monday, Pinehurst Elementary on Tuesday and Canyon Elementary on Wednesday.
They will be conducted by the 15-member Facilities Advisory Committee, which has met since January. It is chaired by Dr. James Joy.
The committee, largely made up of business people and parents, will recommend to the school board what should be done to provide adequate school buildings in the future, said superintendent Larry Curry.
“The committee hopes to get a ton of information back from the public,” he said.
Options the group has considered include replacing Sunnyside Elementary, rejuvenating or replacing the senior high school, and building a single elementary school to replace the three existing ones.
The committee also will meet with school district staff members on Monday to gather their opinions, Curry said.
