Eagles Edge Cheney To Secure District Title

West Valley is on a roll at the perfect time.

Tyler Hall won his eighth consecutive game, and WV its ninth, as the Eagles (15-7) edged Cheney 6-5 for the District 7-AA baseball title at Cheney.

WV, winner of 12 of its last 14 games, opens the Region IV-AA tournament at Seafirst Stadium at 10 a.m. Saturday against Mid-Valley No. 2 Eastmont. Cheney (15-6) plays Mid-Valley No. 1 Selah (19-4) at 1 p.m. Winners meet at 4 p.m. for a state final-four spot.

Jeremy Isherwood and Jason Brown had two-run singles during a five-run fourth inning to give WV a 6-4 lead. Cheney starter Tucker Urdahl walked three in the inning.

The Eagles led 1-0 in the second after pulling a double steal with men on first and third. Cheney went up 4-1 with a three-run third on RBI singles by Trevor Webber, Chris Collins and P.J. Barthelmes.
