E. Coli Cases Investigated
Idaho and Oregon health officials are trying to determine if there is any connection between seven cases of E. coli O157:H7 infection in southwestern Idaho and eastern Oregon.
Officials said on Wednesday that the cases involved four individuals who live or work in Nyssa, Ore., and the three who live in Payette or Canyon counties in Idaho.
State and local officials in both Oregon and Idaho are involved in the investigation.
The bacteria is commonly found in cattle and sometimes other animals, officials said.
Cases of infection have been traced to foods, drinking water and personal contact.
