Gsl Honors The Best Of Its Scholar-Athletes
They have brains and motor skills and put them to good use. They are this year’s Greater Spokane League scholar-athletes, honored at a banquet last week.
This year’s honorees combined high grades and community service with athletic excellence.
They include Central Valley 4.0 students Shelley Cunanan (track, gymnastics) and track and basketball player Ty Dempsey.
Ferris’ honorees are state track champion Jennifer Smith and four-sport letter-winner, band standout and valedictorian Jason Weatherred.
Gonzaga Prep’s Theresa Palmer and Pat Rusca had near-perfect grades and earned 16 athletic letters between them.
Lewis and Clark’s Anna Adolphson had perfect grades, was a two-sport, four-year athlete and community achiever. Brian Lehrman placed in state wrestling and had near-perfect grades.
Mead multi-sport athletes Jennifer Bennett and Scott Sulpizio combined for a 2,900 SAT score.
North Central’s Reana Emery-Cloy and class valedictorian Josh Stowell were two-sport athletes and national academic achievers.
Jaime Christensen of Rogers lettered four years in three sports, and was a 3.9 student. Valedictorian and distance running standout Cam Hatch is Harvard-bound.
Shadle Park’s Alison Krogel and Tom Mohr are co-valedictorians with perfect grades.
Also co-valedictorians with 4.0 GPAs are University’s Kelly Kearsley and Nicholaus Earling, who starred in two sports each.
