Davis undergoes CT scan
Baltimore Orioles manager Davey Johnson said he does not anticipate having to place hospitalized outfielder Eric Davis on the disabled list and that initial word indicates the painful condition in his stomach area can be treated with drugs rather than surgery.
Davis returned to Baltimore on Tuesday and was admitted to the University of Maryland Medical Center. He underwent a lengthy CT scan that revealed a 3-1/2-inch mass in the frontal portion of Davis’ intestine. Dr. William Goldiner, the team doctor, said the nature of the mass was unknown Wednesday, but Johnson’s optimism would seem to suggest an infection.
Langston out indefinitely
No timetable has been set for left-hander Mark Langston’s return to the Anaheim Angels’ starting rotation.
Langston underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to remove inflamed and damaged tissue in his left elbow at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, Calif.
