Lc, Sandpoint To Play For Third

Connor Quinn scored with 3 minutes left Friday as Lake City edged Highland 1-0 during a consolation semifinal at the boys State A-1 soccer tournament at Boise.

LC (4-1) will play Sandpoint (3-2) this afternoon for third and fourth places.

LC and Sandpoint opened the day with semifinal losses.

Jake Brown scored in the second minute to charge Boise toward a 2-0 win over LC. The Timberwolves outshot Boise 23-16 but couldn’t score against Austin McFeeley.

Meridian defeated Sandpoint 4-3 in the other semifinal, winning a shootout 5-4 after two scoreless overtimes. Sandpoint’s Jason Campbell scored three times, but received a red card and was on the bench when Meridian tied the match with 3 minutes left in regulation.

LC bounced back with its 1-0 decision over Highland, with Philimon Tudor picking up the assist.

Bo Conley notched four goals as Sandpoint defeated Capital 6-1 in the other consolation semifinal.

Also at the tourney, Highland eliminated Coeur d’Alene 5-2. CdA’s Kyle Chambers had one goal and one assist.

Coeur d’Alene was eliminated and Sandpoint won twice during the second day of the girls State A-1 tourney at Boise.

Sandpoint edged Pocatello 1-0 and defeated Capital 5-1 in loser-out matches. The Bulldogs play in today’s consolation semifinal.

CdA ousted Moscow 2-1 to open the day. Kelly Garasky, despite an injury, scored the winner at 77 minutes. Katie Harkins scored an early goal for the Bears (14-7).

Mandy Anderson had one goal and one assist as Centennial eliminated CdA 2-0. The Vikings finished 16-8.
