Mead Clinches Final Playoff Spot

GSL

The usually muddy-until-the-last-minute Greater Spokane League cleared up early.

Though the league title is still up for grabs, Mead set up the playoff field with a 31-0 win at University on Friday night.

The Panthers’ win clinched the fourth spot in the playoffs while eliminating the Titans.

Gonzaga Prep, Central Valley and Lewis and Clark have the top three positions, although the order won’t be determined until Thursday.

And this just in: Mt. Spokane, the new Mead school, won its first game with a 37-15 victory over Southridge, a new school in Kennewick, at Albi Stadium.

In other games Friday, Shadle Park defeated North Central 27-18 at Albi and LC beat Tumwater 17-14 on Pete Flatt’s 36-yard field goal in overtime.

Mead used a balanced attack, highlighted by Brandon Muzatko’s 186 yards passing.

The Panthers’ (6-2, 5-2) defense did the rest against the Titans (3-5, 3-4).
