John Martin New York Times Syndicate

There will be cheers and perhaps a few tears shed during “Scott Hamilton: Back on the Ice” (CBS at 9), the triumphant return of one of the world’s best-liked figure skaters.

Hamilton takes to the ice for the first time since his diagnosis and successful treatment for testicular cancer.

Jane Seymour (“Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”) hosts this skating extravaganza, which features some of Hamilton’s best friends - Ekaterina Gordeeva, Katarina Witt, Kristi Yamaguchi, Kurt Browning, Brian Boitano, Paul Wylie, Todd Eldredge, Rosalynn Sumners and Brian Orser.

Hamilton, a 1984 Olympic gold medal winner, also is a four-time U.S. and World Figure Skating champion. Proceeds from this event will go to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where Hamilton was treated.
