Nanny (Larson) McFarland Richland
Memorial service for Nanny Valborg (Larson) McFarland, a former Spokane resident, will be at 3 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mrs. McFarland, 81, died Tuesday.
She was born in Viking Township, Minn., and was a 50-year resident of Spokane. She moved to Richland four years ago.
Mrs. McFarland worked as a baker for nine years at Glover Junior High School.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and Dandy Diggers Garden Club.
Her husband, Earl McFarland, died in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Bowers of Richland; a son, John McFarland of Spokane; a brother, Don Larson of LaMesa, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Kelm and Dorothy Emert, both of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Elsie Langevine of Thief River Falls, Minn.; four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
Becky Gerow Greeley, Colo.
Memorial service for Becky Denise Gerow, 18, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Community Congregational Church in Priest River, Idaho. Private family inurnment will be held. ShermanKnapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.
Miss Gerow, who was born in Deer Park, died Monday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Greeley.
She was raised in Priest River and graduated from Lamanna High School earlier this year.
Miss Gerow moved to Greeley and was a freshman at Aims Community College. She was studying nursing and business.
She was active in volleyball, basketball, cross country and track. She also participated in Students Against Drunk Driving, and the Spanish and DECCA clubs. She was a cheerleader during her high school sophomore year.
Miss Gerow was also a member of the Honor Society.
She is survived by her parents, Larry and Maureen Gerow of Priest River; a brother, Brian Gerow of Priest River; her grandparents, Dennie and Gladys Gerow of Newport, Wash., and Gretchen Cooney of Falbrook, Calif.
Ruth Larson Spokane
Visitation for Ruth L. Larson, 86, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Funeral Home. Service is set for 2 p.m. Monday the funeral home. Private burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park.
Ms. Larson, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Wednesday.
She graduated in 1929 from Lewis and Clark High School and completed her missionary training course from Moody Bible College in Chicago.
Ms. Larson was a bookkeeper for Burgan’s Furniture for more than 40 years.
She was also a member of First Convenant Church.
Ms. Larson is survived by a niece, Patricia Barnes.

Arnold Tjomsland Pullman
No service will be held for Arnold C. Tjomsland, 82, at his request. Private graveside service will be held at the family plot at Deer Park Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Tjomsland, who was born in Naicam, Saskatchewan, died Tuesday.
He moved to Scobey, Mont., and graduated from high school there.
Mr. Tjomsland served in the Air Force during World War II as a pilot.
In 1944, he married Janie Coskrey in Columbia, S.C.
After the war he graduated from Troy (Ala.) State University with a degree in education.
Mr. Tjomsland received his master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1950.
He was an assistant state superintendent of schools in charge of Washington school construction from 1955 to 1960, then joined Washington State University as an education professor. He retired in 1979.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ken Tjomsland of Longview, Wash., and Jim Tjomsland of Pullman; a brother, Irving Tjomsland of Fresno, Calif.; and a grandson.

Raymond Retter Hartline, Wash.
Funeral service for Raymond D. Retter, 85, will be at 11 a.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Born in Wakefield, Kan., Mr. Retter, died Wednesday.
He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
In 1940, he married Irene in Moscow, Idaho.
Mr. Retter worked as a storekeeper for Hartline Store until his retirement. He was also a volunteer fireman.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; two sons, Michael Retter of Boring, Ore., and Steven Retter of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Paul Retter of Ashland, Ore.; a sister, Marvel Hughes of Phoenix, Ore.; and two grandchildren.
Dorothea Hutchison Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Dorothea J. Hutchison, 84, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Monday at Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Hutchison, who was born in North Dakota, died Wednesday. She moved to Coeur d’Alene from Sacramento 30 years ago and worked at Sunrise Natural Foods in the 1970s.
Mrs. Hutchison was a homemaker and was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Order of the Eastern Star and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in North Dakota.
Her husband, Austin, died in 1972.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Jahns of Coeur d’Alene and Elena Tagbo of Spokane; a brother, Samuel Glaser of Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Donnie ‘Chief’ Lemery Deer Park
Funeral Mass for Donnie Joe “Chief” Lemery, 50, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park. Burial will at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Nespelem Catholic Cemetery in Nespelem, Wash. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Spokane, Mr. Lemery died Sunday.
He graduated in 1966 from Riverside High School and served in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Lemery is survived by four daughters, Ione, Heather, Jodie and Autumn Lemery, all of Spokane; a stepson, Sonny Big Smoke of Spokane; a sister, Ione Evans of Deer Park; two brothers, Ron Lemery of Mead and Richard Lemery of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
Lizett Beplate Potlatch, Idaho
Visitation for Lizett A. Beplate, 82, will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash. Private family graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Freeze Cemetery north of Potlatch.
Mrs. Beplate, who died Thursday, was born in Potlatch.
She worked as a caregiver for local families in the Potlatch area before she married.
In 1937, she married Victor Beplate in Coeur d’Alene and they made their home north of Potlatch, where they logged and farmed.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Edsel Beplate of Potlatch, Earnest Beplate of Deary, Idaho, and Richard Beplate of St. Maries; two brothers, Marchant and Otis Colvin, both of Potlatch; a sister, Lula Bidle of Palouse, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Lolabelle Nielsen Spokane
Memorial service for Lolabelle G. Nielsen, 82, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Inurnment will follow. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nielsen, who was born at Diamond Lake, Wash., died Thursday.
A homemaker, she graduated from Newport High School and was a resident of Spokane for 60 years.
Her husband of 56 years, Fred Nielsen, died in 1992.
She is survived by a son, Larry Nielsen of Spokane; a sister, Bernadine Russell of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Billey Anderson Spokane
Memorial service for Billey A. Anderson, a 22-year Spokane resident, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Anderson, 60, died Wednesday.
He was born in Elkin, N.C., and served 20 years in the Air Force.
Mr. Anderson was also a retired fireman, a special deputy sheriff and 20-year employee of Riverview Terrace.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Flora; a son, Billy Anderson; three daughters, Barbara Anderson of Spokane, Debbie Anderson of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Robin Reid of Portland; a brother, Harvey Oye of Spokane; two sisters, Pat Simons of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary Grimes; and seven grandchildren.
Robert Bowers Seattle
No service will be held for Robert H. Bowers, 82, at his request. Bleitz Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of the arrangements.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., he died Tuesday.
Mr. Bowers was raised in the Kettle Falls area and graduated from Marcus (Wash.) High School.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Bowers retired in 1977 from the City of Seattle Engineering Department where he worked in the traffic signal crews and from Seattle Transit where he worked on the trolly crews.
He moved to Otis Orchards in 1982 and then returned back to Seattle in 1992.
Mr. Bowers was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 77 and the Civilian Conservation Corps alumni.
His wife, Leona, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Beth Beyer and Ann Bjornson, both of Seattle; two sisters, Lola Adolfson of Spokane and Betty Mahaupt of Richland; and two grandsons.
Florence (Lundquist) Ahlin Spokane
Memorial service for Florence L. (Lundquist) Ahlin, 92, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will precede at Riverside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ahlin, a native of Moscow, Idaho, died Tuesday.
She graduated in 1923 from Moscow High School and moved to Spokane.
Mrs. Ahlin worked for Sacred Heart Hospital food service and retired in 1969.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and was active in the Scandinavian community.
Her husband, Harry Ahlin, died in 1964.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia White of Spokane and Genevieve Cole of Honolulu; two brothers, Wallace Lundquist of Oregon City, Ore., and Elmer Lundquist of Iowa City, Iowa; a sister, Alice Ingebritsen of Moscow; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pearl (Galusha) Henry Springdale, Wash.
Service for Pearl Virginia (Galusha) Henry, 90, was Friday at the First Baptist Church in Deer Park. Burial was at Wooodland Cemetery in Deer Park.
Mrs. Henry, who was born in Perkins, Indian Territory, Olka., died Monday.
She was a homemaker and was a Springdale resident since 1985.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Deer Park.
Her husband, Paul Henry, died in 1996.
Survivors include seven sons, David, Harold, John, Joseph, Frederick, Isaac and Eugene; three daughters, Margaret Roggow, Janie Helberg and Cynthia Johnson; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
