Reign Fall In Seattle
Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil scored 21 points and Yolanda Griffith added 20 as the Long Beach Stingrays defeated the Seattle Reign 83-75 in an American Basketball League game Saturday.
Andrea Nagy hit a 3-pointer to give Long Beach (6-4) its biggest lead, 65-52, with 7:02 left in the game.
Backed by the 6-for-6 free-throw shooting of Shalonda Enis, the Reign (3-8) cut the lead to 71-67 with 1:59 left, but Long Beach’s Beverly Williams and Davis-Whitsil countered with their own free throws to pad the lead.
Williams was 7 for 7 at the line and Davis-Wrightsil went 5 for 5.
Kate Starbird paced the Reign with 22 points, while Enis and Val Whiting each had 16.
