Aloha Pines First Phase Open

Developer Tom Hagen has recently opened the first phase of Aloha Pines manufactured home park near Elk.

When completed, the 15-acre project will include 70 homes. Twenty-two sites are available and four model homes are open for touring.

The community includes a swimming pool, common area with lawns and a picnic area, and 8,000-square-foot lots.

Hagen, who lives in Hawaii, said the development is aimed at young families and empty-nesters.

Aloha Pines is affiliated with Mahalo Homes, a manufactured home dealer selling double-wide manufactured homes for the community.

“A family can move in for about $650 a month,” said Hagen. The price includes water, septic, garbage and access to all the amenities.

The lots are leased, but the homes are sold. When owners move out, they can sell the home - or take it with them.

“Most sell the house in place,” said Hagen.

The homes are installed with concrete block skirting rather than vinyl to give the park a more permanent feel. Renting homes is prohibited under community rules.

The three-bedroom, two-bath homes start at $50,000.

Aloha Pines resident manager Barbara Werre said the development is “very quiet, very homey.”

“I remember what manufactured homes used to be like, 10 or 12 years ago. They have made a drastic change,” she said.

It takes about six weeks for a home to arrive at Aloha Pines after it’s ordered.

Werre is enjoying the peace and quiet, but is anxious for new neighbors.

“It is a beautiful project out here,” she said. “It is going to be a friendly, family community where people feel safe.”
