Katja Seizinger won the first super-G of the women’s World Cup ski season at Mammoth Mountain, Calif., her third super-G victory on the High Sierra peak in as many tries since 1994.

The first World Cup downhill ski race of the men’s season was called off at Whistler, British Columbia, after heavy snow wiped out the required training run.

Americans Mark Grimette and Brian Martin swept to their second World Cup triumph of the season in luge doubles at Berchtesgaden, Germany.
