Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: A young couple, close friends of mine, got married. Because they were in the bridal registry of several stores, it was easy to select an appropriate wedding gift.

There will be other occasions for me to buy gifts for them, so I made a point of picking up a current printout of their bridal registry lists. Some stores keep them in their system for a number of months.

So now “goodbye” to agonizing over gift ideas. By selecting items from their own wish list, I know they’ll be happy with my choices for years to come.

I hope this tip will be useful to others who are family or friends to newlyweds. - I.W., San Antonio

A quick check of several stores showed they keep the registry on file anywhere from three months to a year or even longer. Good advice. - Heloise
