Help Us Meet Creative People

We are looking for 100 creative people in the Inland Northwest and we need your help. We want to hear about people like Michael Koep of Coeur d’Alene.

Koep recently released a CD with the band Kite. He did more than play the drums and guitar. He wrote most of the lyrics, kept a journal of the collaboration, created a Web site and also painted watercolors to go along with each song. Now that’s creative.

Creativity is hard to define, but here are some thoughts: Creativity is the application of imagination. So, creative people not only have imaginative thoughts and ideas, they also apply them in ways others notice. Something creative is novel, original and shows insight.

We’re not just looking for artists. We want to be creative about where we find creativity. For example, your neighborhood car mechanic who does wonders with used car parts or the relative who invents new ways to celebrate family traditions.

It’s easy to nominate someone. Send us names, how we can reach these creative people, and why you think they are creative.

Please be as specific as possible. You can write: Creative 100, The Spokesman-Review Newsroom, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210-1615.
