Enter Manito Photo Contest

Friends of Manito is sponsoring the “Magic of Manito” photography competition for amateur and professional photographers.

All entries must be of Manito Park and its gardens. Photos of all time periods will be accepted. Entry deadline is 5 p.m. next Monday.

Prizes will be awarded in adult professional and amateur categories, for historical and vintage photos, and in three youth divisions.

Artists to preview arts season

Learn about Spokane’s upcoming season of arts events during the annual Season Preview from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at Comstock Park, sponsored by the Spokane Arts Commission.

The event is a prelude to the Spokane Symphony’s annual Labor Day concert in the park that evening.

Performances representing a range of local musicians will be staged, and some organizations will be promoting the sale of season tickets.

Participating groups include AIA Spokane, Allegro Baroque and Beyond, American Needlework Guild, Corbin Arts Center, Holy Names Music Center, Spokane Civic Theatre, Spokane Art School, Spokane Potter’s Guild, Spokane Porcelain Guild and the Spokane Jazz Society.

Ballet auditions to be held

The Columbia Ballet Theatre, a performance company, will hold auditions Saturday. Registration for fall classes in the School of Columbia Ballet is being conducted for children ages 3 and older, and for evening adult classes.
