Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: Quite a few pairs of my earrings have tarnished to the point where I am unable to wear them. Rather than throwing them away, I recycled them using nail polish.

It’s very easy. Just polish one side, let dry completely, then do the other side. Once dry, check for any missed spots, if any, and give another coat.

They really came out looking perfect, especially a red pair that matched a red outfit

My cousin loved them so much that I “polished” a couple of pairs for her. Robin Miller, San Antonio, Texas

Dear Heloise: My hint for used fabric-softener sheets is: They are great to wipe paint off your fingers and hands, or if you do ceramics or use any small brush for painting of any kind, most of the paint will come off the brush by using one. Lorraine Huschks, Glendive, Mont. xxxx
