Paul Tabor Rewarded For Achievement, Initiative

Marine Sgt. Paul D. Tabor, son of Peggy Tabor of Moscow, has received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Tabor, who joined the Marine Corps in 1989, was cited for outstanding achievement while serving as communications technician with Marine Air Control Squadron 4, Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Air Wing, Okinawa, Japan.

Tabor was honored for superb initiative and contribution in helping the command fulfill its mission.

Army Pvt. Darian R. Sutton, son of Carl Sutton of Rathdrum and Julia Evans of California, has graduated from basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Sutton received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military history, courtesy and justice, traditions and first aid.

Airman Glenn L. Hahn, son of Mary Dyke of Coeur d’Alene, has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Hahn studied the Air Force mission, organization, customs and human relations during the six-week training course. Airmen who complete the training receive two college credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Angela C. Arnold, daughter of Lola and David Grenfell of Harrison, has been promoted to her current rank.

Arnold, a 1984 Kellogg High School and 1988 Griffin College graduate in Tacoma, is an internal information chief at McGuire Air Force Base, Trenton, N.J.

Navy Ensign Joseph E. Dowding, son of Edwin and Margaret Dowding of Moscow, recently received his commission in the Navy.

Dowding, a University of Idaho honors graduate, will receive the American Legion Award for scholastic excellence for demonstrating academic excellence and contributing to the NROTC program.

He will attend Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Fla., and then go to submarine duty.

Airman Kristy R. Marks, daughter of Danny and Martha Schrader of Rathdrum and wife of Brian Marks of Hayden, has graduated from the communications and navigation systems apprentice course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.

Marks, a 1995 Lakeland High School graduate, received specialized training and learned the application of electronic principles, shop and flight line practices and troubleshooting of avionic and navigation systems, components and equipment.

Zachary O. Ring, son of Fred and Susan Ring of St. Maries, has joined the Army as a signal support systems specialist and attended basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Ring, a 1997 St. Maries High School graduate, enrolled in the G.I. Bill for up to $15,403 toward full-time schooling.

Joel Ruhle, son of Sanford and Beulah Ruhle of Post Falls, has joined the Army as a motor transport operator and has attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Ruhle is a 1997 Post Falls High School graduate.

Army Pvt. Bryan J. Teal, son of Jay and Prudie Teal of Hayden, has graduated from one0station unit training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Training included instruction in drill, ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, justice history and traditions, and first aid.

Teal also completed cannon crew member advanced individual training with instruction in maintaining, preparing and loading ammunition for firing, operating and performing operator maintenance on prime movers, self-propelled howitzers and ammunition vehicles, and crew maintenance and participation in organizational maintenance of weapons and related equipment.
