Driver Killed In Head-On Crash Had Triple The Legal Alcohol Limit

Associated Press

Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg says the driver of the car that hit another head-on last weekend, killing himself and two passengers, had a blood-alcohol content more than three times the legal limit.

Sonnenberg said the autopsy on Luis A. Morals DeLarosa, 22, of Caldwell was 0.27. The legal limit in Idaho is 0.08.

Also killed in the crash Sunday afternoon were Gerado Sanchez-Esquiel, 24, and Gonzalo Huitron-Martinez, 26. Both men were also from Caldwell.

Authorities said DeLarosa’s car was eastbound on Idaho U.S. 20-26 west of Boise when it drifted across the center line and slammed into a truck driven by Richard Walker, 39, of Eagle. Walker, his wife, Terri, 39, and their 9-year-old son were all hospitalized and reported in fair to good condition on Monday.
