John Burke Coeur d’Alene

Service for John Edward Burke, 68, will be today at 10 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery with military rites by the Post Falls American Legion Post 143.

Mr. Burke, who was born in Alabama, died Tuesday.

He grew up in Birmingham, Ala., and attended Birmingham High School and participated in track.

Mr. Burke was a boxer in Alabama, known as Irish Johnny McCrea, and won several Alabama Golden Gloves championships. He won the Southern Golden Gloves and the U.S. National AAU championships.

He worked as an Arthur Murray dance instructor and was later an automobile salesman. He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Terry; three sons, Danny Burke of Coeur d’Alene, Coby Burke of Mississippi and Eric Burke of Hawaii; and five daughters, Cynthnia, Robin and Kelly Burke, and Laura Jackson, all of Mississippi, and Dawn Melton of California.

Theodore Job Post Falls

No service will be held for Theodore F. Job, 74, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Job, who was born in North Dakota, died Tuesday.

He had lived in North Dakota and later Lewiston before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area in 1950.

Mr. Job lived in Spokane from 1979 until 1981 before returning to the Coeur d’Alene-Post Falls area.

He served with the Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Job was a carpenter.

His wife of 50 years, Eloise, died in 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Onyett and Sharon Cannon, both of Spokane, and Bobbi Coles of Hayden, Idaho; a brother, Christian Job of North Dakota; and five sisters, Emma Job and Helen Ebel, both of North Dakota, Lydia Maloney of Tacoma, Gladyce Bowler of Hayden and Esther Christensen of Coeur d’Alene.

Mildred Heindenreich Spokane

No service will be held for Mildred Enid Heindenreich, 87, at her request. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Heindenreich, who was born in Vermillion, Kan., died Monday.

She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Kansas for a year and in 1929 moved to San Francisco.

In 1944 she married George Heindenreich in Norfolk, Va., and they lived in Redwood City, Calif., for many years.

Mrs. Heindenreich and her husband moved to Malden, Wash., in 1972. Her husband died in 1979, and she moved to Oldtown, Idaho, in 1983. She moved to Spokane in 1996.

Mrs. Heindenreich was a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star of Malden, Wash., and was a member of the Spokane Chapter of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She served for a year as a member of the Rosalia, Wash., school board.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Heindenreich of Greenacres and Margaret Heindenreich of Spokane; and five grandchildren.

Frances ‘Billie’ Pollins Hope, Idaho

Service for Frances Hughes “Billie” Pollins, 98, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Pollins, who was born in Kansas, died Wednesday.

She grew up in California and worked as a yacht broker and owned a mobile home park.

Mrs. Pollins built several sailboats in the 1930s and 1940s, and sailed the Hawaiian Islands.

She moved to the Hope area in 1967 and was a member of Clark Fork (Idaho) United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Anderson of Oregon and Ann Hruza of Tacoma; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Wayne Heath Hope, Idaho

Memorial service for Wayne D. Heath, 74, will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Sandpoint Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Division and Pine Streets. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Heath, who was born in Bliss, Idaho, died Wednesday.

He attended school in Algoma, Idaho, near Sandpoint and worked for the railroad before serving with the Army during the invasion of Normandy.

After his military service Mr. Heath settled in the Hope area. He was a truck driver and worked in the construction business before retiring in 1965.

He was a member of the Sandpoint Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; two sons, Bruce Davis of Samuels, Idaho, and Clayton Heath of Coeur d’Alene; two brothers, Louis Heath of Algoma and Emerson Heath of Sandpoint; seven sisters, Dixie Seybold, Lavina Laverdure and Opal Byfield, all of Algoma, Evelyn Anderson of Clark Fork, Idaho, Shirley Duke of Wenatchee, Irene Henderson of Sagle, Idaho, and Edith Stolley of Moyie Springs, Idaho; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Melvin Jory Spirit Lake, Idaho

No service will be held for Melvin Arthur Jory, 87, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jory, who died Sunday, was born in Oregon.

He lived in Vancouver, Wash., before moving to Spirit Lake 30 years ago.

Mr. Jory had worked as an official for racetracks in Coeur d’Alene, Spokane and Portland. He was also a horse trainer.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Survivors include a son, Howard Jory of Oregon; a half-sister, Colleen Rehm of Oregon; and seven grandchildren.

Janeen Sherrill Coeur d’Alene

No service will be held for Janeen Ruth Sherrill, 54, at her request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Sherrill, who was born in Indianapolis, Ind., died Sunday.

She lived in Indiana until moving to Coeur d’Alene nine years ago.

Ms. Sherrill was an artist and also worked as a baker at a donut shop in Spokane. Survivors include a son, Raymond Sherrill of Louisiana; a daughter, Kellee Moore of Arkansas; three brothers, Jeff Jessup of Arizona, and Jerry and Jay Jessup, both of Indiana; two sisters, Jill Wolferton and Joy Gray, both of Indiana; her father, George Jessup of Indiana; and six grandchildren.

Bessie Graniel Coeur d’Alene

No service will be held for Bessie Loese Graniel, 74, at her request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Graniel, who was born in Arkansas, died Tuesday.

She was a stock control supervisor in the ammunitions depot, Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, Calif., and retired in 1979.

Mrs. Graniel moved to St. Maries in 1979 and later to Coos Bay, Ore., where she lived for eight years.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene last year.

Survivors include her husband, Domingo; two daughters, Louise Reid and Faye Woodbury, both of St. Maries; three brothers, Elmer and Ray Roth, both of California, and Harvy Roth of Nevada; a sister, Ruby Stevenson of Oklahoma; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John Thompson Spokane

Memorial service for John A. Thompson, 81, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Riverview Terrace Chapel. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thompson, who was born in Banks, N.D., died Tuesday.

He served in the military and moved to Spokane in 1953.

Mr. Thompson was owner of South Grand Cleaners before retiring.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean; a son, John Thompson Jr. of West Bloomfield, Mich.; two daughters, Julie Landwehr and Mary Thompson, both of Spokane; a sister, Cora Pedersen of Pinehurst, Idaho; and four grandchildren.
