John Collins Jr. Coeur d’Alene
No service will be held for John William Collins Jr., 33. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Collins, who was born in San Pedro, Calif., drowned April 12 while fishing at Twin Lakes, Idaho.
He recently moved to the Coeur d’Alene area and worked as an auto mechanic.
Survivors include a son, John Collins III of California; his mother, Patricia Collins of Coeur d’Alene; five sisters, Karen Ambrecht, Jody Collins and Vicki Ellsworth, all of California, Lori Collins of Coeur d’Alene and Micki Demille of Georgia; a brother, Ira Collins of Coeur d’Alene; and his grandparents, Margaret and Art Miller of Oregon.
Joyce McBride Moscow, Idaho
Service for Joyce McBride, 83, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Colfax, Wash. Inurnment will be at the Freeze Cemetery at a later date. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McBride, who was born in Colfax, died Thursday.
She graduated in 1933 from Colfax High School and received a secretarial degree from Kinman Business College in Spokane.
In 1936 she married Jack McBride in Colfax and they lived in several locations before settling in Potlatch, Idaho in 1937.
They farmed until 1959 when they moved to Moscow and operated a state liquor store until 1975.
Mr. and Mrs. McBride moved back to their farm in Potlatch in 1972 and then to Colfax in 1995.
Her husband died in 1995. Mrs. McBride moved to Moscow in 1997.
Mrs. McBride was a member of Colfax United Methodist Church and a past secretary of the Kennedy-Ford Grange.
Survivors include two sons, Edward and Richard McBride, both of Colfax; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund or the Colfax United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Phyllis Belter Spokane
No service will be held for Phyllis D. Belter, 75. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Belter, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Thursday.
She graduated from C.M. Russell High School in Great Falls in 1941 and from the Deaconess School of Nursing in 1945.
Mrs. Belter was a homemaker and a past mother adviser of Spokane Valley Assembly No. 53 of the Order of Rainbow Girls.
She was also a member of the Victory Chapter No. 161 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Albert; two daughters, Judy Arthur and Sherry Knisley, both of Spokane; a brother, C.A. Jacobson of Fall Brook, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wishing Star Foundation.
Anna Jerome Cheney
Memorial service for Anna S. Jerome, 93, will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jerome, who was born in Leona, Kan., died Thursday.
She was raised in Leona and then lived for many years in Horton, Kan., before moving to Medical Lake 30 years ago. She later moved to Cheney.
Mrs. Jerome was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake and volunteered for many years at Lakeland Village.
She was a foster grandparent at Interlake and worked as a homemaker.
Her husband, Lester Jerome, died in 1969.
Survivors include a daughter, Nora Kalous of Medical Lake; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Marlene Hartt Newport, Wash.
Memorial service for Marlene Joyce Hartt, 61, will be at 10 a.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash.
Mrs. Hartt, who was born in Torrington, Wyo., died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident north of Priest River, Idaho.
She moved to the Newport area as a child and worked in the custodial industry.
Survivors include a son, Sidney Hartt of Priest River; a brother, Emmett Bartman of Peck, Idaho; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Edwin ‘Ed’ Haeger Usk, Wash.
Service for Edwin “Ed” Haeger, 71, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haeger, who was born in Hurdsfield, N.D., died Wednesday.
He was raised in North Dakota, moving to Washington state at age 15. He lived in Toppenish and Goldendale before moving to Spokane in 1950 and then to Usk in 1983.
Mr. Haeger served in the Army during World War II.
While in Spokane, he worked as a baker for Safeway until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of the Spokane Bakers Local Union 74 and the Newport Eagles.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Erickson of Chattaroy and Diana Cavanaugh of Spokane; a son, Ron Haeger of Spokane; five sisters, Irene Mauch of Sunnyside, Wash., Ella Pope of Toppenish, Alma Oxford of Lead, S.D., Gladys Ladd of Rapid City, S.D., and Dorothy Erickson of Wisconsin; two brothers, Melvin Haeger of Spearfish, S.D., and Leo Haeger of Diamond Lake, Wash.; and eight grandchildren.
Stephen Pope Spokane
Funeral Mass for Stephen N. Pope, 80, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Pope, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Thursday.
He graduated from North Central High School in 1936 and married Bernice Foster in 1939.
Mr. Pope served with the Army during World War II in Europe.
After the war, he returned to Spokane and managed Inland Meats of Spokane. He later became president and owner.
In 1950 he moved to a farm and raised sheep after his retirement.
Mr. Pope was a member of the St. Augustine Parish, Brotherhood of Friends, National Sheep Growers Grange, Washington Wool Growers and the Spokane Sheep Growers, serving on the board of directors for 15 years and as secretary/treasurer for 10 years.
His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Pope Gaumond, and three brothers, Peter, James and Thomas Pope, all of Spokane.
