This New ‘Cinderella’ Should Work ‘Ever After’

You’d think there would be no new way to present the fairy tale “Cinderella.” Yet director Andy Tennant, benefitting from the presences of Drew Barrymore and Anjelica Huston, has done just that with this live-action film. Set in the early 16th century, it walks the line between Renaissance and contemporary attitudes. And Barrymore’s sweetness contrasts well with Huston’s wicked stepmother.
