Mountain Men Meeting At Mission

Drive by Cataldo Mission east of Coeur d’Alene this weekend and you’ll see teepees, period clothing and the like. It’s all part of the ninth annual Mountain Man Rendezvous which runs today, Saturday and Sunday.

There’s not much in the way of scheduled activities, but that’s not to say there’s nothing going on. Vendors will hawk their period wares during the weekend, offering everything from arrowheads to tinware to furs. A variety of food vendors will be on site, and demonstrations are planned in candle making, knife making and weaving.

Park hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $3 per vehicle. To reach the Cataldo Mission, head east on I-90, take exit 39 and follow the signs.
