Nez Perce Forest Supervisor Hired

From Staff

Nez Perce National Forest officials have hired a ranger from California’s Plumas National Forest as the Idaho forest’s new supervisor.

Bruce Bernhardt, 48, ranger of the Feather River Ranger District, accepted the job Friday.

The post had been filled on a temporary basis since August when supervisor Coy Jemmett was transferred to Boise to implement a federal wildland fire management policy for the Forest Service.

Bernhardt has served in his current post since 1994 and was previously a district ranger on the Colville National Forest in northeastern Washington. He has also worked on the Mount Hood and Umpqua national forests in Oregon.

He has a bachelor’s degree in resource management from Syracuse University in New York.
