Honored

Comedian Bill Cosby and former child star Shirley Temple Black embrace after they shared the 21st-annual Kennedy Center Honors Sunday night in Washington. Other honorees were composer Andre Previn, Broadway songwriters John Kander and Fred Ebb and country-western singer Willie Nelson. Cosby, who became the first black star of a weekly TV series (“I Spy”) in the 1960s and dominated Thursday nights in the ‘80s with “The Cosby Show,” was honored for his lifetime achievement in the arts. Temple Black starred in her first movie when she was just 6 years old and retired from the screen at age 21. She returned to the public spotlight when she was appointed U.S. representative to the United Nations by President Nixon.
