Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Gray Wolf

From Staff

A Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to killing a gray wolf in the central Idaho mountains in exchange for having two other charges against him dropped.

Daniel Thomas Kloskowski, 54, of Eden Prairie, originally was charged with one count of killing an endangered species, unlawfully possessing and transporting the wolf, and damaging government property by cutting a radio telemetry collar from the wolf’s neck.

The collar, which helps biologists track wolves reintroduced into Idaho from Canada, was recovered in September in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness.

Kloskowski entered his plea Monday, the day before he was scheduled to go to trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge. Sentencing is set for March 8. Kloskowski faces $1,000 in fines and one year in jail.
