Any way you cut it, people care about how their hair looks.

And as longtime stylist Beverly La Salle sees it, there’s no mystery about why that’s the case.

“It’s a part of your personality that’s connected to your soul,” she said. “And your hair is right out there for everybody to see.”

Over the years, La Salle’s customers have listened to her entertaining take on the world of hair and suggested that she put her observations in writing. And now she has.

Her column, “Heads Up,” begins today in IN Life. You’ll find it on page D2.

La Salle, 39, grew up in Spokane and still has family here. Today she lives outside Dallas.

She said she has always had a “sixth sense” when it comes to relating to people’s hair concerns. And she’s hoping that ability to connect will carry through to her column, which will include fielding questions from readers.

“I can’t wait,” she said.
