Cats Pick Up 1St Win

Rachel Bertholf got Mt. Spokane started and Jill Wyrick did the finish work as the Wildcats won the first girls basketball game in school history Friday night.

Bertholf scored eight of the first 13 points in the game and Wyrick hit four free throws down the stretch as Mt. Spokane defeated visiting Rogers 43-37.

The Wildcats had lost 24 straight games, including 20 in the Greater Spokane League.

Bertholf, who also grabbed nine rebounds, and Wyrick both finished with 10 points, marking the first time Mt. Spokane has had two players in double figures in the same game. Wyrick had eight points in the fourth quarter.
