The packed house at Curlew on Saturday needed just a few seconds to see how Jeremy Groth affects a game.
Groth began the game with two steals and converted them into a layup and 3-pointer for a 5-0 lead, and Curlew went on to defeat Republic 62-55 in a Panorama League game involving undefeated teams.
Groth finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds. He has scored 20 or more points in six of eight games.
J.B. Olsen added eight rebounds and three blocked shots for Curlew, which shot 46 percent from the field. Republic made 13 of 15 free throws, and the Tigers’ Dan Hanks and Kris Krohn combined for 17 rebounds.
