The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department recently installed telephones at each fire station that can be used to call directly to emergency dispatchers.

Installing the phones was intended to ensure people with emergencies can get help after hours or when firefighters are out of the station. Requests for help occasionally come from people who walk into the department fire stations.

Fire officials also are encouraging people with other types of emergencies in the area to use the phones to call for help.
