Analysis
Most figure this will be Dennis Erickson’s swan song as coach of the Seahawks. He’s one game under .500 in four seasons. Even an upset win over the Broncos doesn’t figure to save Erickson’s job in the win-now climate of the NFL. To Seattle’s credit, it has continued to play hard for Erickson and would have a four-game winning streak if not for a phantom Jets’ touchdown. The problem is Denver is a bit irritated by a two-game losing streak and needs to get back on track as it begins defense of its Super Bowl title. The Broncos are so-so on defense (12th overall, 26th against the pass), but nearly unbeatable at home under coach Mike Shanahan (29-2). Seattle’s Jon Kitna, 3-1 as a starter this year, suffers his first “legitimate” loss. Broncos, 34-20.
