Bonner County Settles With Former Employee

From Staff Reports

Bonner County commissioners voted Wednesday to settle a lawsuit with former county road supervisor Red Riebe.

Riebe sued the county after his job was eliminated in January 1997, two days after Bud Mueller and Larry Allen took office as commissioners.

At their first meeting, the two commissioners voted to eliminate the building department, its eight employees, and the jobs of road supervisor and solid waste director. A flurry of lawsuits filed by the affected employees followed.

Riebe wanted back pay and more than $10,000 in damages. As part of the settlement agreement, the amount and terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
