Boundary County To Hear Zone Changes

Changes in the zoning of Boundary County will be the topic of a public hearing before the county commissioners at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the county courthouse.

The proposed Boundary County Planning and Zoning Ordinance calls for more areas to be included in the agriculture/suburban zone, which allows a minimum residential lot size of 5 acres. Most of those adjustments would be in a six-mile radius around Bonners Ferry.

The draft ordinance also does away with minimum lot sizes for residential areas within a city’s area of impact. The only restrictions on lot sizes in those areas would be determined by building setbacks.

In rural residential areas, the proposed change is to reduce the minimum lot size to 1 acre.
